Silver Hawk Select -
Mastering the art of choosing
premium cotton linters
Article by Xue Song (Global Supply Department)

As economic globalization accelerates, international market competition is becoming increasingly fierce. As a global leader in natural cellulose purification, Silver Hawk has its own secret to maintaining its competitive edge in this evolving landscape.

There’s an old saying: Even the most skilled chef cannot cook without rice. The foundation of our high-quality products lies in our meticulous selection of raw materials—cotton linters. Unlike traditional industrial manufacturing, where various quality indicators can be adjusted through industrial processes, our industry relies on physical extraction methods to purify cellulose from natural fibers. This means that the quality of raw cotton linters directly determines the quality of our final products. Through years of experience, we have come to understand the distinct characteristics and temperaments of this essential material.

Cotton linters are a byproduct of cotton processing, yet they exhibit a remarkable diversity—much like the regional beauty of China, each with its own unique charm. Cotton thrives in dry conditions, requires abundant sunlight, and prefers slightly alkaline soil, making it an ideal crop that does not compete with traditional food crops for prime farmland. It has long been cherished by hardworking farmers across various regions.

Cotton linter pulp is made from the short fibers (linters) left on cottonseeds after ginning. These fibers are separated, cleaned, and processed into high-purity cellulose pulp.

In northern China, cotton is often grown in the fertile floodplains of the Yellow River. The linters obtained from these regions tend to be fluffy with high fiber elasticity—reminiscent of the tall, graceful elegance of northern women. In contrast, southern cotton, cultivated in the Jianghuai region, yields linters that are denser and have a higher degree of fiber polymerization, much like the petite and spirited beauty of southern women. Thanks to advancements in processing technology, the applications of cotton linters continue to expand, adding even greater value to this versatile material.

As market demands evolve, our products are no longer limited to industrial essentials such as paint and paper. More specialized markets are now imposing higher standards on cotton linter quality. In response, we continuously communicate with our clients and refine our selection process.

For high-end products, we utilize northern cotton linters, which have high fiber content, excellent elasticity, and low moisture levels. These are delicately processed to enhance their value. Meanwhile, southern cotton linters, known for their high polymerization and production efficiency, are strategically used to optimize costs while maintaining the quality of our foundational products.

With the expansion of global trade, foreign cotton linters have increasingly entered the domestic market, broadening our selection scope. Through persistent efforts, we have found the perfect applications for linters from different countries. For example, American cotton linters are prized for their uniform processing, longer fibers, and absence of abnormal fibers, making them an excellent catalyst for high-end product manufacturing. Turkish linters, though slightly shorter in fiber length, offer uniformity that suits specific product requirements.

At Silver Hawk, we believe that there are no useless linters, only underutilized processing methods. Innovation and resourcefulness enable us to transform byproducts into valuable assets, solidifying our reputation as a world-class team.

As global development progresses, we continue to advance. Upholding our vision of global cooperation and sustainable growth, we remain committed to driving innovation and working towards a future of shared success.
